BC Place Stadium sits at the eastern edge of downtown Vancouver, between two of the city’s best food neighbourhoods. Gastown is a 15-minute walk north. Chinatown is 10 minutes east. Yaletown is 10 minutes south. The Stadium–Chinatown SkyTrain station is right outside the entrance. Vancouver has a deep, diverse food scene that punches well above its size — and you are positioned right in the middle of it.
BC Place — Getting Your Bearings
BC Place is at 777 Pacific Blvd, downtown Vancouver. The Stadium–Chinatown SkyTrain station (Expo Line) is directly adjacent — 25 minutes from YVR Airport, 3 minutes from Waterfront Station. It is one of the most transit-accessible stadiums in North America. Driving on match days is not recommended; parking near downtown Vancouver is expensive and slow to exit.
📍 BC Place on Google MapsBy SkyTrain (recommended): Expo or Millennium Line to Stadium–Chinatown. Direct from YVR, Waterfront, or Main Street. Day pass is CAD$11.25 and covers all day. SkyTrain runs until 1:30am.
Walking from Gastown: 15 minutes south on Cambie St. Walking from Yaletown: 10 minutes north on Mainland St. Both easy and pleasant.
⛅ Gastown — 15 Minutes North
Vancouver’s oldest neighbourhood, built around cobblestone streets and converted warehouses. The restaurant scene is excellent — a good pre-match option if you have 2+ hours.
Pidgin — Gastown
One of Vancouver’s most consistent restaurants — Japanese and Southeast Asian influences, excellent cocktails, good value for the quality. The bao buns are the thing to order first. Busy on match days but handles volume well. Best for groups of 2–4 who want a proper sit-down meal before the game. Reserve if you can; walk-ins are possible at the bar.
📍 Pidgin on Google MapsNoodle Box — Gastown / Downtown
Casual, fast, and genuinely good Southeast Asian noodle box concept — ideal pre-match. Order a laksa (coconut curry noodle soup) or pad see ew (flat noodles, egg, broccoli), eat it in 15 minutes, and you’re done. CAD$14–$18 for a full box. Multiple locations around downtown — the Robson St location is convenient if you’re coming from the west end.
📍 Noodle Box Vancouver on Google Maps🏛 Chinatown & International Village — 10 Min Walk East
Vancouver’s Chinatown is one of Canada’s largest and most historically significant — and it’s directly east of BC Place, easily walkable.
New Town Bakery — Chinatown
The oldest Chinese bakery in Vancouver, operating since 1977. The steam-room bao buns are made fresh daily — soft, fluffy, filled with char siu pork. Two or three buns cost CAD$4–$6 and are ideal as a pre-match snack if you’ve already had a meal. Also does congee and noodle soups from 8am. Cash preferred, always busy, extremely local.
📍 New Town Bakery on Google MapsBao Bei Chinese Brasserie — Chinatown
The restaurant most responsible for Vancouver’s modern Chinatown revival — Chinese dishes with high-quality local ingredients and excellent cocktails. The dan dan mian (sesame noodles with chilli oil) is the best in the city. Small plates designed for sharing. Lively atmosphere, perfect for a group pre-match meal. Walk-ins at the bar; reservations strongly recommended for tables.
📍 Bao Bei on Google Maps🏖 Yaletown — 10 Min Walk South
Vancouver’s upscale converted warehouse district — good for a longer post-match dinner or drinks with the game still being discussed.
Blue Water Cafe — Yaletown
Vancouver’s best seafood restaurant — BC spot prawns in season (May–June, which overlaps the tournament), tuna, salmon, and shellfish from the Pacific Northwest. This is the splurge option: expect CAD$80–$120 per person with wine. But if you’re in Vancouver during spot prawn season, this is worth planning around. Book ahead. The raw bar is excellent for a lighter meal.
📍 Blue Water Cafe on Google MapsGranville Island Public Market is 25 minutes south by foot or a 10-minute water taxi from downtown. The market closes at 7pm, so it’s a morning or early afternoon option — ideal if you have a late match. BC salmon, local cheeses, hot food stalls, and a great atmosphere. The water taxi from the foot of Hornby St takes 5 minutes and costs CAD$4.
Granville Island Public Market
One of the best public markets in Canada. BC smoked salmon (from any of three vendors — all excellent), fresh oysters shucked to order, sausages from Oyama, crepes, hot food from a dozen stalls. This is a pre-match morning visit: arrive by 10am, eat through the market, leave by noon. The water taxi from downtown is the nicest way to get there — 5-minute crossing with views of False Creek.
📍 Granville Island Market on Google Maps📋 Quick Match Day Plan

- Post-match: Yaletown for dinner and drinks — far less crowded than the Gastown bars and equally good.
